Il TRIO MARTUCCI nasce da due sentieri professionali, attivi nella musica da camera, che nel 2012 si intersecano dando vita ad un nuovo gruppo: la collaborazione tra il violinista Carlo Dumont ed il violoncellista Raffaele Sorrentino, che dal 1996 al 2016 lavorano insieme nel Quartetto d’Archi Gagliano (formatosi alla Royal Academy of Music di Londra con l’Amadeus Quartet), si estende al Duo che vede affiancare il violinista a Fabrizio Romano, poliedrico pianista e compositore, in una partnership che dal 2001 affronta il più significativo repertorio sonatistico. Il Trio dedica il suo nome al grande compositore napoletano Giuseppe Martucci, individuando in esso non solo un’appartenenza geografica, ma anche un ideale estetico e romantico, evidente tratto esecutivo naturale del gruppo, che nella scelta del suo repertorio, esplora le possibilità di coniugare il rigore e la plasticità sonora, peculiarità del quartetto d’archi, con la libertà e l’agilità tipica del duo con pianoforte.
Il Trio ha in repertorio opere di Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Brahms, Dvorak, Rachmaninov.
BIOGRAPHY
The MARTUCCI PIANO TRIO was founded by two professional paths, active in chamber music, that in 2012 intersect, creating a new ensemble: the long collaboration between the violinist Carlo Dumont and cellist Raffaele Sorrentino, who work together from 1996 to 2016 in the Gagliano String Quartet (who studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with the Amadeus Quartet) meets the Duo Carlo Dumont – Fabrizio Romano, a versatile pianist and composer, in a partnership that since 2001 plays the most important sonata repertoire. The Trio dedicates his name to the great Neapolitan composer Giuseppe Martucci, not only for a geographic belonging, but also for an aesthetic and romantic ideal, hallmark of this ensemble. Infact his repertoire, explores the possibilities of combining the rigor and plasticity of sound, peculiarities of the string quartet, with freedom and agility typical of the duo piano.
